Residents across the North East are being urged to get involved in the region’s devolution discussion.

Members of the North East Combined Authority and the Government have signed a proposed devolution agreement which would see decisions about big issues including jobs, investment, transport and housing made in the region instead of in London.

Final approval of the agreement is subject to a number of conditions – including further public consultation – and people across the North East are invited to get involved.

Consultation events are being held across the region and, from November 5, people can also give their views via an online feedback form at www.northeastca.gov.uk/devolution

Information about the proposed agreement and a video explaining what devolution could bring to North East is also available on the neca website.

The first of a series of consultation events will take place in South Tyneside tomorrow (Nov 5) and details of the following additional events have also been confirmed:

• Tuesday 10 November, 5pm. Northumberland.

• Thursday 12 November, 1pm. Newcastle

• Monday 16 November, 6.30pm. North Tyneside.

People can find details of individual venues on the neca website. Those wishing to attend are asked to register in advance by emailing necadevolution@newcastle.gov.uk.
